A pedestrian is killed in an accident in downtown Phoenix

PHOENIX — One person was killed after a traffic accident in downtown Phoenix early Saturday morning, city police said.

At approximately 1:45 a.m., Phoenix police officers were called to a crash near 40th and Oak Streets. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in the street showing clear signs of injury.

The fire department took the man to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to police, officers learned that the vehicle that allegedly hit the man had left the area after the accident.
