CBI conducts multi-layered voice analysis test on RG Kar accused | India News

NEW DELHI: CBI has decided to conduct a Layered Voice Analysis (LVA) test at Sandra RoyMain defendant in Rape and murder case of a doctor in training at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Calcutta due to inconsistencies in his statements to interrogators.
The agency will also approach the court to conduct a lie detector test on Roy, it said. A special team of psychologists was sent to Kolkata from the CBI's CFSL in Delhi on Saturday.
The LVA report will analyze the emotional state of the accused and determine whether his voice was faked during interrogation. “Differences in the two tones give us clarity. This is different from a voice sample matching test,” sources said.
LVA test results are also admissible in court. It was used by the CBI in the Bargari sacrilege case and the Mumbai Police used it in the Shakti Mill rape case in 2013. The CBI will also conduct a forensic psychological assessment during the interrogation of the accused. “This is to determine whether these people are telling the truth or lying. During the assessment, the psychologist will look at the body language and facial expressions of the accused,” the source added.
If required, the accused may be taken to the Gujarat NFSL for detailed examination.
