Driver arrested for drunk driving after his Jeep rolls over in Bonney Lake crash – KIRO 7 News Seattle

A 31-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence after his Jeep Wrangler overturned in a car crash late Thursday night in Bonney Lake, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said.

Officers arrived at the scene at 11:32 p.m. on August 15 and found the vehicle lying on its side near 10110 McCutcheon Road East.

The Jeep had entered a ditch, hit a tree and overturned, with pieces of bark getting stuck in the front bumper.

The driver, who initially claimed that his friend was driving, told officers that he was uninjured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

However, officers found that only the driver's seat belt was fastened, the passenger's was not, and that only the driver's airbag had deployed.

The emergency caller who reported the accident also stated that no one else was seen near the vehicle.

After investigating, officers determined that the man was the only occupant and arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department urges the public to make responsible choices and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.

They also recommend using ride-sharing services, walking, or designating a driver who drinks alcohol.
