Man accused of pointing gun at Miami Beach commissioner arrested again after Walgreens robbery – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

MIAMI BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) – A wanted man is back in police custody after making headlines for several months.

Miami Beach police confirmed the arrest of Christopher Pitre on Saturday afternoon.

The 35-year-old suspect accused of pointing a gun at Miami Beach Commissioner Joe Magazine in April was on the run after his ankle bracelet was compromised.

According to police, Pitre was arrested on Saturday after a theft at a Walgreens store in Miami Beach.

The magazine told 7News that Pitre broke into his SUV, which was parked in the parking garage of his condominium, on April 11. The detective said he found the burglar sleeping in the vehicle.

Surveillance video shows Pitre leaving the garage, closely followed by Magazine.

“And he turns around, gun already drawn, pointed right at my chest,” he said.

After a few seconds, the magazine said, the shooter turned around and left.

Days later, police managed to arrest Pitre and charge him with a number of additional crimes, thefts and other offenses throughout Miami Beach.

“This person pointed a gun at me. In the house where I live, where I walk every morning with my 7-year-old daughter,” the magazine said. “He terrorized this community for weeks.”

The suspect made headlines again earlier this week after officials said he was able to escape from his ankle monitor while under house arrest.
