2 people arrested after Santa Rosa police find equipment used to make assault rifle and ‘ghost gun’ – NBC Bay Area

According to a press release issued later that day, police arrested two Santa Rosa residents on Thursday after allegedly finding firearms, ammunition and apparent equipment for making “ghost guns” in their home.

Detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department's Gang Crimes Team, with assistance from the department's Special Enforcement and Downtown Enforcement teams, searched the apartment in the 800 block of Yuba Drive in southwest Santa Rosa on a warrant.

During their search, officers found a short-barreled assault rifle, a 5.7 x 28 mm pistol, ammunition, two manufactured Polymer 80 pistol lower receivers, a 3D printer, Dremel drills and two Polymer 80 lower receiver jigs.

The 3D printer, Dremel drilling equipment and Polymer-80 sub-receiver devices are commonly used to create Polymer-80 handguns, or “ghost guns,” the press release said.

A 26-year-old male resident was arrested on suspicion of possession of precursor weapon parts, possession of an assault rifle, offering to sell an assault rifle and unauthorized sale of an assault rifle.

An 18-year-old male resident was charged with possession of an assault rifle, offering to sell an assault rifle, and possession of a firearm by an unauthorized person.
