Man who shot and killed woman at Macon gas station dies after chase in metro Atlanta – WSB-TV Channel 2

HENRY COUNTY, Georgia – The man wanted in a Bibb County murder investigation took his own life Friday after a police chase that ended in Henry County.

GBI officials say Channel 2 Action News that 44-year-old Wayne Fuller of Macon committed suicide after killing a woman at a gas station in Macon shortly before 11 a.m.

Bibb County Sheriff's officials told WGXA that the shooting occurred at Fast Trip in the 2600 block of Riverside Drive and that the Macon-Bibb 911 Center received the call about a person shot at around 11:07 a.m.

When BCSO officers arrived at the scene, they found 51-year-old Cotina Louise Fuller dead from a gunshot wound.

On Friday around 2 p.m., a Spalding County Sheriff's deputy received a call to search for a car connected to a murder in Bibb County. The deputy spotted Fuller's vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Fuller reportedly sped away from the deputy, who pursued the car into Henry County, where other agencies joined the pursuit. The deputy performed a PIT maneuver and stopped the vehicle.

Deputies and officers approached the vehicle, saw blood inside, and suspected the driver might be injured or dead.

However, Fuller was found in the car with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid, but Fuller succumbed to his injuries.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation into the incident. Once the investigation is complete, the case will be forwarded to the Henry County District Attorney's Office for review.

No MPs or officials were injured.
