Gary Glitter, 80, could die in prison because the paedophile does not pay compensation to one of his victims

Gary Glitter could die in prison after it emerged that the paedophile failed to pay compensation to one of his victims.

The 80-year-old singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was released last year halfway through a 16-year sentence for sexually abusing three schoolgirls at the height of his fame.

However, a month later he was put back behind bars at HMP The Verne in Dorset after breaching the conditions of his release. He was reportedly caught browsing the dark web on a mobile phone during a stay in a probation home.

Now Glitter could be released even later than the end of his prison sentence in 2031 after reportedly ignoring a High Court order to pay £508,000 to a woman he abused when she was 12 years old.

The 1970s pop star faces a contempt of court conviction for failing to officially participate in the proceedings two months after the order was issued.

The court could sentence him to up to two more years in prison for contempt of court and possibly also confiscate his assets, including a property worth £2 million on Baker Street in London.

A source told the Mirror: “He is already afraid of dying in prison. Now he faces an even longer sentence.”

“Glitter has wantonly abused this woman and owes her a significant amount of money. He is disgraced. He has no character. He has shown complete disregard for the legal process and this is a terrible sight.”

He was released last year, but was sent back to prison just weeks later for violating his parole.

The sex offender has already resigned himself to dying behind bars after the parole board blocked his release in February, ruling that he continued to pose a danger to the public.

A source previously said: “He still blames everyone else for his situation instead of accepting that it is his fault.”

“Glitter is really depressed and complaining about his situation,” they told The Sun. “He has said, 'I'm going to die in prison now' and has accepted it.”

“At the end of his sentence he would be almost 87 years old and knows what effects prison can have on one’s health.”
