Akron Police Bodycam Video of the Mass Shooting at the June 2 Street Festival

The dozens of hours of bodycam and dashcam footage show chaotic scenes as both police officers and bystanders tried to process and respond to the deadly mass shooting.

CLEVELAND – Akron police released several hours of footage Saturday showing the chaotic scenes as officers and other emergency personnel responded to the mass drive-by shooting that left one person dead and more than 20 others injured on June 2.

Dozens of hours of bodycam and dashcam footage show police and emergency responders controlling and stabilizing the scene where the shooting occurred and nearby hospitals, while passersby and family members of the injured victims gathered in the area to search for their loved ones and gather more information.

3News is currently reviewing the vast amount of footage and will provide you with ongoing updates as the story develops.

In some cases, tense interactions between officers and civilians occurred as bystanders became increasingly desperate to gain access to the scene so they could learn where their loved ones were and whether they had safely escaped the shooting.

The mass shooting occurred on June 2 during a street festival in the area of Kelly Avenue and 8th Avenue. In July, the city announced that the number of victims in the shooting was 29, including the fatal victim, 27-year-old Lateris Cook of Akron.

After interviewing numerous people, reviewing leads and analyzing evidence, Akron Police released photos of a suspicious vehicle connected to the June 18 shooting.

No arrests have been made in connection with the mass murder, although Akron Police Chief Brian Harding said last month that his detectives had spent 2,500 hours investigating the case and conducted “over 100 interviews.”

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates.
