Bengaluru man who fled after murdering his wife found dead by suicide – News Karnataka

A 46-year-old man who was reported missing after allegedly murdering his wife has been found hanged from a tree in Hulimavu in the southeast of the country. Bangalore National Parkon Saturday.

The victim, 35-year-old Meena, was discovered by her son in a pool of blood at her Hulimavu home around 7:30 pm on Friday. Meena worked as a housekeeper and her husband Mahesh Kumar had disappeared soon after the incident. Investigators quickly suspected Kumar of the murder as he had left his phone behind and locked the house from outside before he disappeared. The case took a tragic turn when passersby found Kumar hanging from a tree later that evening and informed the police.

Kumar, originally from Maharashtra, moved to Bengaluru about two decades ago and had lost touch with his family. According to police, Kumar suspected Meena of an extramarital affair, which she reportedly admitted to but refused to end. This admission deeply disturbed Kumar as he had previously confided in his son that he considered killing Meena but refrained from doing so out of concern for his son's future.

On the night of the murder, the couple had a heated argument over the affair, after which Kumar fatally hit Meena on the head with a rod. After the attack, he fled the scene and is believed to have taken his own life around 10 p.m. Before leaving, Kumar contacted his son's girlfriend and asked her to look after his son. He also tried to contact his son, but to no avail.

Kumar was Meena's second husband and the couple had no children together. He worked as a crane operator for a well-known construction company in the city. Police are still investigating the incident.
