Dan Hooker vs. Mateusz Gamrot receives the “Fight of the Night” award

At UFC 305, Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot exchanged blows for three rounds.

While Hooker emerged victorious with a decision victory, both lightweights walked away with an additional $50,000 after the fight was named Fight of the Night. Hooker combined effective striking with relatively strong takedown defense to earn the approval of two of the three cage judges at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia on Saturday night.

Kai Kara-France received a $50,000 check for “Performance of the Night” for an impressive win over Steve Erceg in the flyweight co-main event. “Don't Blink” first knocked his opponent down with a left hook before backing Erceg against the cage, where he once again sent “Astro Boy” to the floor – this time with a right straight. More strikes ended the fight at 4:04 of the opening stanza, as Kara-France snapped a two-fight losing streak.

Finally, Carlos Prates received the other $50,000 Performance of the Night award for his third consecutive knockout under the UFC banner. The Brazilian knocked out veteran opponent Jingliang Li with a left hook 4:02 into the second round, handing “The Leech” his first knockout loss in 28 professional fights.
