ROY, Utah, August 18, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) – Investigators in Roy are on the scene of a police-involved shooting that left a man hospitalized Saturday night.

Sergeant Josh Taylor of the Roy City Police Department told Gephardt Daily the “suspect” was shot near 5650 S. 2775 West around 7:30 p.m.

According to Taylor, the injured man was taken to the hospital, but Taylor had no information about the suspect's condition or the circumstances that led to the shooting.

Amateur video taken at the time of the shooting showed a large police presence, followed by the sound of numerous gunshots.

Police immediately cordoned off the area and requested that investigators from the Weber County Officer-Involved-Critical-Incident Team be dispatched to the scene.

According to unconfirmed reports, the suspect was fleeing officers on foot at the time of the shooting and shots were fired at at least one residential building and a fence.

No officers were injured, Taylor said.

“Further updates will likely come from the Weber County District Attorney's Office and all officers involved will be placed on leave pending the investigation until its completion.”

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
