He landed awkwardly in the opening moments of the game before being taken off the pitch.

Forest had to settle for a 1-1 draw after Antoine Semenyo equalised after Chris Wood's opener.

This result leaves Forest in eighth place in the table ahead of their away game at Southampton next weekend.

However, there were concerns about Danilo after the game had to be stopped due to his serious injury.

The 23-year-old used Instagram to give his supporters an update.

He wrote: “Hey guys, I'm stopping by to say that thank God I'm OK and home already.

“We will be back soon and thank you all for your supportive messages.”

Meanwhile, his manager Nuno Espirito Santo told reporters: “It was a terrible moment for everyone, he broke his ankle.”

“He is just leaving the hospital and will be examined tomorrow. It is serious, but the good news is that he is stable. He is talking.”

Danilo joined Forest in January 2023 and signed a contract until summer 2029.

Since then, he has played 50 games for the club, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

Due to his form, he has been linked with a move to Manchester United; Erik ten Hag's team have contacted Forest about a possible transfer.

Harry Redknapp's predictions for the 2024/25 season

TOP FOUR
ARSENAL, MANCHESTER CITY, LIVERPOOL and TOTTENHAM – and I have a really strong feeling for Arsenal this season. Some of Man City's star players are getting a bit older. There has been nothing between the two teams for the last two years.

DESCENT
EVERTON (18th), SOUTHAMPTON (19th), LEICESTER (20th) — I like Sean Dyche and Everton are a great club with brilliant, knowledgeable fans. They are just poorly managed. They need to get relegated to rebuild and come back. But the key is new ownership.

BEST GOALSCOR
ERLING HAALAND — I can't imagine anyone can take the crown away from him. He's a goal machine, isn't he? If I got him at 1-0, I might hit him!

MOST ASSISTS
MARTIN ODEGAARD — He will be the catalyst for Arsenal's rise to the title. I can see it already. He's a great player and he makes everything look so easy.

CARABAO CUP
TOTTENHAM — Ange Postecoglou will break Spurs' trophy curse. Most big teams will be toying with that trophy, but Tottenham will go at it full steam ahead.

FA CUP
LIVERPOOL – I am convinced that Arne Slot will quickly make his mark on English football and there is few better way to do that than by lifting that famous old trophy.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
REAL MADRID — Carlo Ancelotti is optimistic about their chances. He has said that with Kylian Mbappe, this is the best team they have had in a long time.

EUROPEAN LEAGUE
MANCHESTER UNITED — Clubs no longer seem to despise this competition, and Spurs and United should go for it with all their might.

CONFERENCE LEAGUE
CHELSEA — The Luxembourg champions could be dangerous! Jokes aside, the Blues have to win.
