“Very low-key, very mindful”: The viral trend that Jenna Ortega, Jennifer Lopez, Joe Biden and everyone else is talking about

A new trend has taken the internet by storm. Numerous celebrities, including Jenna Ortega, Jennifer Lopez, Penn Badgley, Lindsay Lohan, Joe Biden and Jamie Lee Curtis, have adopted the phrase “very low key, very mindful.” The phrase, which quickly became a viral sensation, was first coined by TikTok influencer Jools Lebron.

Lebron, who identifies as a transgender woman, shared the phrase in a video that has now been viewed over a million times. In the viral clip, she detailed how she does her makeup at work, emphasizing a subtle and meticulous style. “See how I do my makeup at work? Very low key, very attentive. I don't do too much. I'm very attentive at work. See how I look? Very presentable,” Lebron noted. She then humorously added, “A lot of you girls go to the interview and look like Marge Simpson and go to work and look like Patty and Selma, not low key.”

Following the success of the first video, Lebron released another one in which she delved deeper into what it means to be “modest,” “cute,” and “mindful.” In an interview with CBS Mornings, Lebron explained the concept: “Your modesty is what it means to you. It means being mindful and considerate of the people around you, but also of yourself and your appearance to the world.”

Lebron further clarified her stance, sharing a personal anecdote. “I thought, let's go natural. Let's not do too much. So I thought, I'm not going to show up on the first day with a green crease. I'm not going to show up like a clown, but I was really referencing how I had performed at another job,” she said.

LeBron's message seems to appeal to a broad audience, as it emphasizes a more relaxed, unified approach to self-expression. “We're all like that, we agree, nothing has to be so serious. Nothing has to be so aggressive. Everything could just be very sweet. We don't do too much. We just do a little bit. I'm not crazy about it. I'm very low key,” she added.

With 1.5 million followers and 97 million likes on her TikTok profile @joolieannie, LeBron's influence continues to grow as the “very low key, very mindful” trend gains momentum.
