Longing for machines

Longing for machines works by linking words to shapes (define) and then remembering the link later (verify), creating your own language. You apply as a human for a job for robots. To even have a chance at the job, you must bypass a captcha system designed to unmask sneaky human applicants. At first, simple tasks become increasingly tricky as there are more words, and even more so when colors are added. Eventually, applying for a job becomes a task that only the most advanced robots out there can handle… and you? Solve captchas to prove you're a robot – but there's a catch. You invent the language as you go! Just remember that you're remembering it…

  • Authentic application – Take a look at the fascinating robot job market and see how you would fare on the career ladder.
  • Refresh your brain – Regularly playing Machine Yearning has been proven to improve the memory and processing speed of the human brain to at least the level of 2005.
  • A striking CV – Machine Yearning was originally conceived at Ludum Dare – the most famous game jam in the world. With the help of its human developer, it won the award for the most entertaining and innovative game jam!
