Teenager charged with murder of bartender in Manchester

MANCHESTER, Jamaica – Police report that a teenager has been charged with the murder of a bartender on May 1 in New Green, Manchester.

The accused is 19-year-old Javannie Muir, a resident of the Kendal district in the municipality.

Police said a manhunt was launched for Muir in Kendal at around 4.30am on Wednesday. He was arrested and later charged.

On May 1, bartender Kereen Airy was shot dead in a bar in New Green Square.

According to police, two armed men entered the bar. One of the armed attackers shot Airy in the face, then stole money and opened fire on another bartender while fleeing the scene.

A court date is set for Muir.
