California creates almost one in five new jobs in the USA

According to Governor Gavin Newsom's office, California added 21,100 new jobs in July, accounting for nearly 20% of all new jobs in the country.

This is the 51st consecutive month of job growth in the state. California also saw an all-time high in fast-food employment, surpassing the 750,000 mark for the first time.

Last year, California added 284,400 new jobs, an increase of 1.6%. The unemployment rate remained stable at 5.2%. Four of the state's 11 industries saw employment gains in July.

California leads the nation in Fortune 500 companies and travel spending totaled $150.4 billion.

The state is home to 35 of the world's top 50 AI companies and leads the country in entrepreneurship, access to venture capital, manufacturing, advanced technology and agriculture.
