Derek Chauvin is currently serving his prison sentence in Oklahoma

It looks like the former Minneapolis police officer will be transferred to Oklahoma.

Derek Chauvin was found guilty in 2021 of Charged with second-degree murder against George Floyd on June 25, 2021. He was sentenced to 22.5 years in prison and has spent the last few years in an Arizona facility. However, Chauvin will be transferred after an incident in late 2023.

Another inmate, John Tursack, is charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing Chauvin 22 times in prison. The Federal Bureau of Prisons said it could not disclose the reason for Chauvin's transfer due to privacy and security concerns. However, we do know where Chauvin was transferred.

The Federal Transfer Center (FTC Oklahoma City) is a United States federal prison for male and female inmates located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, a division of the United States Department of Justice, and houses offenders and parole violators who have not yet been assigned to a permanent place of confinement. Most likely, Chauvin will be transferred to another facility somewhere else in America, but he is currently located here.

The average length of stay for an inmate at the FTC is four to six weeks, so it's safe to assume Chauvin will be transferred sometime in mid- or late September. It's unclear where the Federal Bureau of Prisons plans to move him next.
