Mets' Brandon Nimmo apparently landed injured in 8th place

NEW YORK — Mets left fielder Brandon Nimmo left the batting area and walked to the field in the seventh inning on Sunday after committing a foul on the first pitch.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza and team trainer Joseph Golia attended to Nimmo, who appeared to be feeling unwell. A few seconds later, Nimmo returned to the batter's box, ready to bat, and struck out with momentum. He appeared to be in no discomfort, but was taken out of the game. Jeff McNeil took his place in left field at the start of the eighth inning.

Nimmo has had bad luck in recent days. He missed Friday's game because of a gastrointestinal virus. In the 25 games before Friday, Nimmo had a batting average of .138 (13 of 94) and an OPS of .442, including just three extra-base hits, all doubles, and five RBIs.
