Rear-end collision on Kansas Highway overnight: 3 cars and 8 people involved

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (KCTV) – On Sunday, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported a three-car crash on Kansas Highway 10 involving eight people.

According to Douglas County, the accident occurred on August 18 at approximately 1:53 a.m. on westbound Highway K-10, near mile marker 20.

The incident began when a 20-year-old Shawnee man driving a Chrysler 300 rear-ended a Lexus IS driven by a 37-year-old man with a 19-year-old passenger.

Shortly thereafter, a third car, a Honda Accord, crashed into the Shawnee man's Chrysler, causing it to stop on the road.

The Honda was driven by a 20-year-old woman and had four passengers. Two of those passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were taken to an Overland Park hospital for treatment.

While the vehicles were towed and the accident was investigated, traffic in the westbound lanes of Highway K-10 was detoured for several hours.

Both the Johnson County Sheriff's Department and the Eudora Police Department assisted.
