Greene County refugee in custody

FEBRUARY. THIS MORNING, A GREENE COUNTY FUGITIVE WAS CAUGHT BY POLICE AFTER WEEKS ON THE RUN. POLICE BELIEVE JIMMY BUTTERFIELD HAS LINKS TO MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS. WE FIRST TOLD THEM ABOUT BUTTERFIELD ON AUGUST 2ND. THEN POLICE SEARCHED FOR A STOLEN MOTORCYCLE AND INTERROGATED HIM AT HIS HOME IN MOUNT MORRIS. POLICE DISCOVERED DRUGS, DRUG PARAGRAPHS AND WEAPONS IN THE GARAGE. AND THEN BUTTERFIELD ESCAPED. THIS CRYSTAL METH, UM, REALLY CAUGHT OUR ATTENTION BECAUSE OF ITS PURITY. WE KNEW IT WASN'T MADE IN A LAB. THIS IS DEFINITELY A CARTEL-MANUFACTURED ITEM. IT WAS VERY, VERY CRYSTAL CLEAR. AND IN ADDITION TO THE DRUGS FOUND IN THE HOUSE, POLICE SAY BUTTERFIELD

Greene County fugitive suspected of being linked to Mexican drug cartel now in custody

A Greene County fugitive is now in police custody after being on the run for weeks. Police believe Jimmy Butterfield has ties to Mexican drug cartels. On Aug. 2, Butterfield was questioned by police at his Mount Morris home while searching for a stolen motorcycle. Police discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and guns in the garage, and Butterfield fled. “The crystal meth really caught our attention,” said Chief William DeForte of the Greene County Regional Police Department. “We knew because of the purity it wasn't made in a home lab. This is definitely a cartel-produced item. It was very, very crystal clear.” In addition to the drugs found in the home, police say Butterfield is a convicted felon and is not allowed to possess guns.

A fugitive from Greene County is now in police custody after weeks on the run.

Police believe Jimmy Butterfield has ties to Mexican drug cartels.

On August 2, police questioned Butterfield at his Mount Morris home in search of a stolen motorcycle.

Police discovered drugs, drug paraphernalia and weapons in the garage and Butterfield fled.

“This crystal meth really caught our attention,” said Chief William DeForte of the Greene County Regional Police Department. “Because of the purity, we knew it was not made in a home lab. This is definitely a cartel industry-produced product. It was very, very crystal clear.”

Police said that not only were drugs found in Butterfield's home, but he was also a convicted felon and was prohibited from owning a weapon.
