Vybz Kartel shows his new-found commitment to health in a workout video

Vybz Kartel is loving life after prison and shows off his newfound commitment to fitness in a new workout video.

The Jamaican dancehall star, who suffers from the autoimmune disease Graves' disease, has made fitness a priority since being released from a Jamaican detention camp earlier this month.

In a clip from Saturday (August 17), Vybz demonstrated his lower body strength by completing sets on the leg press and leg raise machines.

Shortly after his release, the “Fever” rapper said he was now focused on getting his health back on track after spending over a decade behind bars.

The Jamaican legend was initially sentenced to life imprisonment in 2014 for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, but his sentence was overturned earlier this year after he served 13 years of it.

As part of his new routine, he also invested in a bike and a treadmill.

“I started right away,” he added.

The “Summertime” singer suffered from numerous health problems during his time in prison.

In June, Evers spoke with his lawyer, Isat Buchanan, who said Kartel had required medical attention over the past year.

“Mr. Palmer's illness is actually life-threatening,” he told the longtime New York journalist. “His neck was swollen, if you think of a shirt that measures about 18 inches in the neck area, you couldn't close the collar on his neck, that's how bad it is right now.”

He continued: “His face is indeed swollen. And another thing. He always wears glasses; in this condition, it causes his eyes to bulge.”

Kartel was held in solitary confinement for up to 23 hours a day and his lawyers argued that he was denied access to clean air.

The Jamaica Court of Appeal ruled on July 31 that Vybz Kartel (real name Adidja Azim Palmer) and his co-defendants would not be retried.
