Man gets 20 years in prison for raping his teenage daughter | News from India

JAIPUR: A special Pocso dish In Pali sentenced a 47-year-old man to 20 years in prison on Friday for repeatedly raping his 14-year-old daughter and thereby making her pregnant. conviction comes almost a year after the incident, despite the victim, her mother and other family members reacting hostilely in court and attempting to withdraw the lawsuit.
The heinous crime came to light on August 6, 2023, when the girl's family, including her father, mother and maternal uncle, took her to the district hospital in Pali after she complained of severe abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea. On examination, doctors found that the girl was six weeks pregnant, which prompted them to inform the Kotwali police station.
In her initial statements under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the minor girl alleged that her father raped her for months and beat and threatened her whenever she resisted. Based on her statements, a complaint was filed at Kotwali police station, which led to the arrest of the accused father.
During the investigation, the police received reports from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and Medical reports related to the case. During the trial, however, the girl and her mother reacted hostilely. The victim claimed that she had made the statements against her father under pressure.
Sandeep Nehra, the special public prosecutor of the Pocso court in Pali, told TOI that the Rape survivor and her mother were speechless. Matching the accused's FSL samples with other relevant medical reports proved crucial in proving that the girl had been raped by her father. “We had strong and incriminating evidence, with the police working on smaller things, including ensuring that medical and FSL reports became a practical tool to confirm that the girl had been raped by her father.”
The court of Special Judge Sachin Gupta said that it is a heinous crime if a father rapes his daughter and she becomes pregnant. After examining the evidence and witness statements, the judge sentenced the accused father to 20 years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs 80,000.
