Shooting in Seattle nightclub leaves one dead, suspect at large

Detectives with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) are investigating a fatal shooting at a SoDo nightclub.

According to SPD, the shooting occurred early Saturday morning at 3:09 a.m. in the 1900 block of 1st Avenue South, near Krispy Kreme in South Seattle.

When police arrived, they found a 22-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered medical aid until the Seattle Fire Department arrived.

The man was then taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Police said that despite life-saving measures, the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Harborview.

The man was shot in a nightclub by one or more unknown suspects, according to police. People in the nightclub dispersed before police arrived, and only security remained with the man.

The suspects fled the area and no arrests were made.

Investigators said they are working to determine what led to the shooting. Homicide and crime scene investigators were examining the scene.

In addition, detectives from the homicide squad were entrusted with the case.

Last month, police arrested a woman in connection with a shooting at the Showbox SoDo, a South Seattle music venue in the 1700 block of 1st Avenue South. Investigators accused her of opening fire during a concert, KIRO 7 reported.

One of the biggest questions people had was how someone could bring a gun into the venue. KIRO 7 reached out to the venue for an answer but did not receive a response.
