Punjab police officer suspended after video of his misconduct goes viral

A CIA police officer was apparently involved in an altercation with government Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) personnel after being asked to remove the net attached to the windows of his Thar.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Amritsar Rural) Charanjit Singh Sohal on Sunday suspended a Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police officer after a video of the Punjab Police constable apparently involved in an altercation with state Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) personnel went viral on social media.

A thorough investigation is still pending, says SSP Charanjit Singh Sohal.

In the video, SWAT team personnel are seen asking police constable Sukhkarman Singh to remove the net attached to the windows of his Thar. The constable refused to do so, which led to the argument.

“The police officer was immediately suspended. A thorough investigation is pending,” the SSP said.
