Australian woman ends up in emergency room after viral cucumber TikTok trend goes horribly wrong

An Australian woman had to rush to the emergency room after a “simple” TikTok challenge went wrong – and warns against jumping on social media trends.

Brisbane-based Bec Hardgrave recently attempted to recreate one of TikTok content creator Logan Moffitt's viral cucumber recipes.

The popular recipes always call for cucumber slices – and Bec used a brand new mandoline to slice the vegetables.

But her plan backfired when she severed a piece of her hand.

“I told myself I wasn't going to fall victim to another trend – but that's the way it is,” she said in the short clip.

She showed herself playing the mandolin and then immediately switched to her lying in a hospital bed with a bandaged hand.

“I cut my hand on the mandolin like I would with a tomato,” she said.

“Here's a warning for everyone – I had just bought this mandolin and did not open the box completely, but it comes with a protector so [you don’t hurt yourself].'

Bec was unable to have stitches on her hand because her wound was too large, so she has to wear a protective sleeve on her hand until it heals.

If you try a similar recipe at home, be careful when handling sharp blades and be aware of your surroundings.

What is the viral cucumber recipe and how can I try it?

TikTok chef Logan Moffitt is famous for his “Cucumber of the Day” recipes.

“Sometimes you have to eat a whole cucumber and I'll show you the best way to do it,” he says before revealing a brand new recipe in each video.

The recipes are simple and perfect if you need to prepare an inexpensive lunch or dinner for the week.

Logan's “sushi cucumber” recently went viral, making millions of people want to try his other dishes.

To prepare the sushi cucumber dish, you will need a sliced cucumber, soy sauce, rice vinegar, wasabi, grated ginger and kewpie mayonnaise.

Simply place the cucumber slices in a lunch box or jar and then add the other ingredients as desired.

“I’m going to make this salmon sushi, so I have some smoked salmon,” Logan said.

You can also replace the salmon with other ingredients such as firm tofu depending on your diet.

“I'll just cut it into small pieces and add it to the cucumber,” he added, before sprinkling MSG and furikake – which is made of toasted sesame seeds, nori, salt and sugar – on top.

Then put the lid on and shake the ingredients well so that the cucumber is well coated with the homemade dressing.

The chef described the dish as “bomb” and said he was thrilled with the successful – and simple – recipe.
