THIS IS WHERE EIGHT PEOPLE WERE CONFIRMED SHOT TONIGHT. AND I JUST WANT TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE LOOK AT THIS CRIME SCENE. I ACTUALLY WANT TO POINT YOU IN THIS DIRECTION HERE. IT WAS A STREET. NORTH SPRING STREET IS BEHIND THE BACK BUILDING THERE, NEXT TO THE CAROLINE AND HOFFMAN PARK BASKETBALL COURTS HERE. BUT WE JUST HEARD FROM COMMISSIONER RICHARD WORLEY OF THE BALTIMORE POLICE. HE SAYS THEY FOUND SEVERAL VICTIMS WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS IN THE 1300 BLOCK OF SPRING STREET AFTER 8 PM TODAY. THEY HAVE EIGHT CONFIRMED GUNSHOT VICTIMS AGAIN. AND WE KNOW THAT ONE OF THOSE VICTIMS, A 36-YEAR-OLD MAN, DIED FROM HIS INJURIES. THEY ALSO FOUND SEVERAL GUNARMS AT THE SCENE. THEY COULDN'T TELL US EXACTLY HOW MANY GUNARMS THERE ARE AT THIS TIME OR GIVE US A DESCRIPTION OF THOSE GUNARMS, THEY ARE STILL INVESTIGATING IT. NOW THEY SAY THE VICTIMS ARE BETWEEN 22 AND 45 YEARS OF AGE. HOWEVER, THERE IS ONE VICTIM THAT THEY HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO IDENTIFY, SO THE AGE RANGES MAY BE CHANGING. AS FOR THE EIGHT VICTIMS, WE KNOW THAT SEVEN OF THEM ARE MEN. ONE IS A FEMALE, FOUR PEOPLE WERE FOUND HERE AT THE SCENE. THE OTHER FOUR WERE FOUND IN LOCAL HOSPITALS. SO THEY CAME HERE WITH THEIR INJURIES. BUT THESE INJURIES ARE VARIANTS. THESE INJURIES ARE VARIANTS. SORRY. WE WILL START OUR EFFORTS TO STABILIZE THE COMMUNITY IN THIS COMMUNITY. Police: One dead, seven injured after mass shooting in Baltimore

A 36-year-old man died and seven others were injured in a mass shooting in Baltimore City on Sunday night, police said. The shooting occurred just after 8 p.m. in the 1300 block of Spring Street. According to Baltimore Police Chief Richard Worley, officers found several firearms at the scene. The victims were taken to several local hospitals and their condition ranged from stable to critical, Worley said. Baltimore Police Department investigators will work tirelessly to find and hold those responsible for this horrific act of violence accountable. For those who know who was involved — even if they are your loved ones — I implore you to do the right thing and ask them to take responsibility. If you have information that could help us bring justice to our community, call the Baltimore Police Department Homicide Hotline at 410-396-2100. “These tragic acts of violence — which continue to occur too frequently in our city — are only possible because guns remain easily available on our streets. We cannot acknowledge this tragedy without acknowledging the role that gun proliferation plays in endangering our communities. “Tonight, we hold room in our hearts for the family of the Baltimorean we lost and for those who were injured — and we will continue our work to ensure no Baltimorean is lost to violence. To that end, we will activate a coordinated neighborhood stabilization response through MONSE and offer this community all the resources it needs to begin the long process of healing from this tragedy.”Preliminary information indicates the victims range in age from 22 to 45, Worley said.Anyone with information or video of the shooting is asked to call 1-866-7LOCKUP.Other information was not immediately available.
