Chit fund scam: Couple and 5 accomplices arrested for chit fund scam | Dehradun News

Dehradun: A married couple and five accomplices were sentenced to three years in prison. Detention by the Uttarkashi High Court for cheating over 150 people through a small savings scheme.
Mithlesh Tiwari and his wife Priyanka Tiwari were associated with Chit fund companies called Janbandhan Producer. The prosecution said Rukhsana Ansari, an agent of the company, convinced Puran Singh Rawat to open a recurring deposit account and invest in the scheme. However, when Rawat's RD came due and he wanted to withdraw his money, the company refused to pay, prompting him to file a police complaint. Singh had invested Rs 6,000 and when he demanded his money back, he was told the company promoters had gone into hiding. During the investigation from 2019 to 2021, several other cases came to light. The accused had cheated 150 investors of Rs 70 lakh. During the hearing, the prosecution proved that Ansari, Kumar and the Tiwaris had full knowledge of the FraudThe court found her guilty cheat and criminal conspiracy under Sections 420 and 120B of the IPC and sentenced them to three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10,000 each.
