Man killed with multiple gunshot wounds in shooting in Hopewell, police say

HOPEWELL, Virginia – Authorities say a 44-year-old man died Sunday evening in Hopewell from complications from a gunshot wound.

At 7:55 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of Davisville Court for a report of a man who had just been shot, said Hopewell police Lt. Jacquita Allen.

When police arrived, they found Conell Gholson, of Hopewell, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he died of his injuries, Allen said.

No details about the circumstances of the shooting were released.

“The investigation into this matter is ongoing,” Allen said. Members of the Hopewell Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division have begun an investigation into this incident.”
