Shooting at Airbnb worries College Hill community

Reginald Childress and his mother live across the street from the shooting and heard it all around 3 a.m. on August 12. “First of all, I'm angry, a bullet went through my mother's window. She's 96 years old,” Childress said. Almost a week later, the aftermath can still be seen everywhere. There are bullet holes everywhere. Childress says the gunfire even wrecked another resident's car. Police say no one was injured in this shooting. “My neighbor turned 90 on Monday. Bullets hit her house, her wall, her window,” Childress said. WVTM has reached out to Airbnb to learn more about how they are addressing these residents' safety concerns but has not yet heard back. Childress says he just wants to feel safe in his home. “We've been here since 1965; we've worked hard for what we have, for our belongings and for our property. “This is a lot of property damage that has occurred here,” said Childress. Birmingham police are investigating the incident. No one was injured in the shooting.
