The platform also receives new features that are updated across devices

Google Meet is getting new features and an updated user interface that works across a wide range of devices. The update will be available soon.

Google will upgrade its video calling platform Google Meet app with a redesigned user interface and a number of new features that were exclusive to the meeting sessions.

The new user interface will be consistent across all devices.

Users now get access to enhanced features, On-The-Go mode, and emoji reactions, while enjoying a consistent experience for video calls and scheduled meetings in the app.

With the latest update, Meet's video calls more closely resemble the Meetings interface, with similar call control buttons at the bottom of the screen for easier access. Additionally, emoji reactions are also available in group calls, along with stack effects like backgrounds and filters, making it easy to customize your appearance.

Users can now show they agree with an idea, celebrate a success, or respond to a joke with just a tap, without interrupting the conversation.

The new screen sharing feature allows users to share photos, videos, presentations, and other content during calls. This is convenient for collaborating, sharing with friends, and providing remote technical support.

Google Meet now offers an On-The-Go mode for Android and iOS with an audio-only option and larger call control buttons.

The feature is designed for users who need to take calls while walking, driving or using public transportation and want to experience as little distraction as possible.

Other notable improvements include features like live captions in more than 70 languages. The app now supports in-call messaging, allowing users to keep the conversation going with real-time chat right during their video calls. This lets them share links and stay in touch even when they can't speak out loud.

Updates to the Google Meet video calling app will roll out over the next few months.

Users are encouraged to keep their Google Meet app up to date to have access to the new features. Calls where participants are using a different version of the app will default to the older version.
