Kim Daniels faces a strong opposition in the latest battle for political survival

Duval County Democrats have three candidates to choose from in one of this month's primary elections.

You can go with the incumbent, the representative. Kim Danielsor with one of her two opponents, who each ran very different campaigns against her House District 14a county seat that includes parts of northern and western Duval County.

An opponent, Lloyd Caulkerhas barely run an election campaign. He has not yet collected any donations and has received numerous letters from the election authorities to that effect.

As a former pastor and consultant, he is the owner of the “salvation marine”, who is described on LinkedIn as a “strategist against the Commandery of the Knights Templar, the Consistory of the Exalted Princes of the Royal Secret, etc.”

When asked if he would run against Daniels, who is herself a world-renowned pastor, Caulker said his campaign was a “divine calling” and that the “Lord Jesus Christ” had urged him to run after leaving the priesthood to travel around and “wash feet” like Mary Magdalene.

Daniels' other opponent has become a more serious contender, but it remains to be seen whether that will translate into a win this month.

Therese V. Wakefield-Gamblea 53-year-old entrepreneur and grandmother from north Jacksonville, attributes her entry into politics to a “life-changing experience”: recovering from a brain aneurysm after three surgeries.

The candidate doesn't want to waste her second chance at life and spends the summer impeaching the incumbent.

“I looked at her program and her actual goals and then I also looked at the bills that she proposed and co-signed. And there is a discrepancy. It does not match what she announced,” said Wakefield-Gamble.

It has received some potentially significant recommendations, including from PAC for Planned Parenthood in FloridaThe Democratic Party of Florida American Muslim Caucus and Democratic candidate for the House of Representatives Ben Sandlinwho will run against the MP in November. Wyman Duggan.

She was also supported by the 90 for 90 group, another sign that some establishment Democrats are ready to say goodbye to Daniels, an evangelist who describes herself as “Demon Hunter.”

Daniels is a pastor by profession and represents Republican views on “parental rights” and other issues, positions that are anathema to many members of her own party.

“I am the opponent of the worst nightmare of this law,” Daniels said, carrying a bill that School chaplain This is rejected by many in her own party. “I cast out devils, I pray in tongues, I am a saint. But no one in this room can ever say I tried to convert you. Jesus is too good to force on anyone.”

Daniels is in the midst of her third term in the House of Representatives. She was originally elected to represent the 14th District in 2016, was re-elected in 2018, and lost to current Rep. Angie NixonAfter Nixon was moved to HD 13 in the 2022 redistricting, Daniels won a four-candidate primary and returned to Tallahassee.

The August primary will likely decide the matter, given that more than 55,000 of the district's nearly 105,000 registered voters are Democrats and that the primary winner will face only one hand-written candidate.
