Teenager dies in accident with off-duty police officer

SCIENCE HILL, Kentucky – Kentucky State Police Precinct 11 is investigating a fatal accident involving a minor.

KSP responded to a Saturday 911 call at approximately 11:45 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash on US 27 Old Norwood Road in Pulaski County. The crash involved an off-duty Lancaster Police officer.

The initial investigation indicates that a Dodge Durango police vehicle driven by Officer Derrick A. Glover, 31, of Nancy, was traveling south on US 27 when the vehicle crashed into the rear of a red Coleman 196cc dirt bike. The bike was being driven by a juvenile. The juvenile was not wearing a helmet.

The accident resulted in the death of the juvenile, who was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner. Officer Glover suffered no injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Responding to the scene were members of the Kentucky State Police, Pulaski Fire and EMS, Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, Pulaski County EMS, Science Hill Fire Department and Pulaski County Coroner's Office.
