Netflix announces new Jo Nesbø crime drama – and it sounds really scary

Jo Nesbo is consistently on the bestseller lists as the king of crime dramas, so we couldn't be more excited that Netflix is ​​adapting his hit series Harry Hole. The series, to be called Harry Hole in Norway and Detective Hole internationally, is a crime thriller about a serial killer – and it looks fantastic. Find out more here…

What is it about?

Netflix's official synopsis states: “Beneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two cops – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law.

“In the first season, Harry clashes with his long-time nemesis and corrupt detective Tom Waaler. Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective battling his demons. As the two navigate the blurred ethical boundaries of the criminal justice system, Harry must do whatever it takes to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it's too late.”

While Netflix hasn't revealed much about the plot, it has been revealed that the series will adapt the fifth novel in the series, The Devil's Star. The synopsis reads: “Harry can't trust his own memory. A man is caught on CCTV shooting a teller in a bank. Detective Harry Hole begins his investigation, but wakes up after dinner with an old flame with no memory of the last 12 hours.

“Someone wants to get rid of him. Then the girl is found dead under mysterious circumstances and he receives threatening emails: Is someone trying to pin her death on him? And they will stop at nothing to satisfy their thirst for blood… While Harry fights to clear his name, the bank robberies continue with unprecedented brutality.”

Who is in the cast?

The film stars “Exit” star Tobias Santelmann and “Suicide Squad” actor Joel Kinnaman. They are joined by an impressive cast, including “Fargo” actor Peter Stormare, “Ragnaroks” Fridtjov Såheim, “Succession” actor Eili Harboe, “Casino Royale” actor Jesper Christensen and more.

Speaking about the casting, Jo said: “I expect that all readers of the book series have their own idea of ​​what Harry Hole would look like and they should be allowed to keep that. We will create a Harry based not only on the books but also on the actor Tobias Santelmann and everyone who was involved in this project – both in front of and behind the camera.”
