Illegal immigrant allegedly raped 10-year-old boy in Mississippi

An illegal immigrant from Mexico is said to have raped a 10-year-old boy in Mississippi.

The Pontotoc County Sheriff's Department said its officers arrested 34-year-old “illegal alien” Filiberto Gonzalez at his home in the area on August 12 for the alleged rape.

Gonzalez remains in the custody of the sheriff pending his upcoming hearing on two rape charges.

It remains unclear when and where Gonzalez entered the United States.

The sexual assault is just one of the latest in a series of alleged sex crimes committed by migrants. In New York City alone, there have been at least three such alleged migrant crimes in the last two weeks.

Senegalese migrant Papa Diop, 38, was arrested last week for allegedly raping a 36-year-old woman in the Bronx, authorities said. He crossed the border in 2023 and was released into the United States due to a lack of space in detention centers.

The day before Diop's arrest, police arrested 24-year-old Nicaraguan Daniel Davon-Bonilla on suspicion of raping a woman at knifepoint under the boardwalk at Coney Island in Brooklyn.

Davon-Bonilla is said to have had an accomplice, who was also a migrant, and who hit the victim's friend with a pipe when he tried to intervene, according to police and prosecutors.

Ousmane Balde, 20, who is from Guinea, was also arrested on August 6 and is accused of groping a 57-year-old woman in Central Park in Manhattan.
