State police have released the identity of the driver who was airlifted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital on Thursday, August 15, after he drove his vehicle into a creek on Saxonburg Boulevard near the intersection with Wylie Road.

Mark Hill, 32, of New Kensington, was extricated from his car after it plunged into a creek bed and flown out by helicopter with what police documents say were serious injuries. He was the vehicle's sole occupant.

According to an accident report, Hill was driving southbound on the 900 block of Saxonburg Boulevard behind traffic and passed several vehicles in a passing zone.

As he was re-entering the southbound lane, Hill “made sudden movements” and lost control of his car, which drove down a hill and eventually came to a stop in a creek bed.

Hill was charged with careless driving.
