York County man charged with sexual abuse of multiple underage victims

John P. Grove, 50, of Dallastown, is accused of sexually abusing at least five underage victims over a period of several years, according to York County Regional Police.

DALLASTOWN, Pa. – A York County man faces multiple felony charges and other misdemeanors after sexually abusing at least five underage victims over a period of several years, according to York County Regional Police.

John P. Grove, 50, of Dallastown is charged with three counts of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years of age, two counts of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a child, multiple counts of indecent touching of a person under 13 years of age and multiple counts of enticement of a minor.

According to police, the investigation was launched in January when a concerned citizen contacted authorities and alleged that Grove had sexually abused two minors. The allegations were later confirmed by the victims' mother and the victims themselves, the criminal complaint affidavit states.

During the course of the investigation, numerous other victims made similar allegations against Grove, some dating back as much as 24 years, the complaint states.

All of the victims alleged that Grove touched them inappropriately. Some victims claimed that Grove ensured their silence by buying them gifts or warning them not to tell anyone because “they would both get in trouble,” the lawsuit states.

The alleged attacks took place in several locations, including homes in York and Dallastown and in Pinchot State Park, the victims said.

Grove was charged and arraigned in July and remains in the York County Jail after failing to post $100,000 bail, court records show.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 5.
