Chappell Roan: “I’d rather get arrested” than become an actor

“I have learned how to behave, but for me it is the most stressful thing in the world,” she said

Do not expect you will soon see this feminomenon on the screen. Chappell Roan graces the cover of Interview Magazine on Monday and revealed that she was afraid of film people and would rather not be an actress.

“I say this with peace, love and blessings. Actors are fucking crazy,” she said in an interview with SNLBowen Yang. “Film people scare me so much. In the last few weeks I've been asked, 'Do you want to star in XYZ?' and I said, 'No.'”

“I appreciate that, but literally, no. I originally got into music because I wanted to be an actor, and then I moved to Los Angeles and was like, 'Fuck this,'” she continued. “The industry is really so scary and I have no control over it at all.”

Roan told Yang that she prefers to be in charge of her music rather than putting her life's work in the hands of others to decide what she will do and when.

“I can release music whenever I want,” she said. “I don't have to wait for a casting director to say, 'It would be great if we cast you. Then we'll set your schedule for the next three months.'”

Roan later walked back her comments somewhat, admitting that she would “maybe do a cameo” in a TV show or movie. She also said that it would have to be “really specific and really silly” for her to do it.

“I've learned how to act, but for me, this is the biggest stressor in the world,” she said. “I'd rather be arrested … because I know how to navigate prison.”

“It would really have to be the right thing and the right time,” she added.
