Fatal accident involving police in Pulaski County

The Kentucky State Police Department in London is continuing its investigation into a fatal traffic crash over the weekend in Pulaski County in which one of the drivers was an off-duty Garrard County police officer.

KSP said it was called shortly before midnight Saturday for a two-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. 27 near Old Norwood Road in the Science Hill community of Pulaski County involving an off-duty Lancaster Police Department officer.

According to state police, their preliminary investigation indicates that a Dodge Durango police vehicle driven by Officer Derrick A. Glover, 31, of Nancy, was traveling south on U.S. 27 when his vehicle collided with the rear of a red Coleman 196cc dirt bike driven by a juvenile who was not wearing a helmet.

The teenager was fatally injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County Coroner. Officer Glover was not injured in the accident.

The accident investigation, which is ongoing, is being conducted by Trooper Cory Jones. He was assisted at the scene by personnel from the Kentucky State Police, Pulaski Fire Department, Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, Pulaski County EMS, Science Hill Fire Department and the Pulaski County Coroner's Office.
