CHEYENNE, Wyoming – Breanna Lemae Sorensen, 32, of Cheyenne, was arrested on August 13 and now faces several charges including forgery, theft, cheating on a drug and alcohol test, possession of a controlled substance, criminal damage to property and obstructing the work of a police officer. Officer Jones responded to a trespassing call early that morning on East 12th Street, where he found Sorensen sleeping in a white minivan parked at a gas pump.

After waking her up, Sorensen told the officer she was waiting for gas money from a friend. When Officer Jones checked her background, he found that Sorensen had an outstanding warrant for cheating on a drug and alcohol test. Sorensen was arrested and taken to the Laramie County Detention Center. Her first court date in Laramie Circuit Court was on August 16. She was given a $5,000 cash bail.

The current charges began on May 15, when Sorensen allegedly stole $237.62 worth of merchandise from a Cheyenne cosmetics store. Detective Marino, who knew Sorensen from previous encounters, positively identified her from surveillance footage. Further investigation revealed that Sorensen had a prior conviction for shoplifting dating back to 2014. Because she has four or more prior convictions for theft, she is charged with this theft as a felony.

On August 2, Sorensen was charged with tampering with a drug and alcohol test while on probation. According to Agent Davis of Wyoming Probation and Parole, Sorensen submitted a fake doctor's note to avoid the test. The note, which purported to be from a local practice, was criticized for numerous spelling errors. A call to the doctor's office confirmed that the note was fake and Sorensen had not been treated at the clinic.
