Man's ear bitten off and teeth broken in domestic dispute, police say | Local news

CONFLUENCE, Pa. — A Confluence man in Somerset County was taken into custody Monday on charges he punched a man, knocked out his teeth and bit off his ear during a domestic dispute, authorities said.

State Police in Somerset charged 19-year-old Harry Lee Rugg II of the 100 block of Whites Creek Road with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault, disturbing the peace and harassment.

According to an affidavit, a man allegedly told police he was upstairs in his home on Sunday when he heard a commotion outside. The man went outside and allegedly found Rugg on top of his 2004 Chevrolet Corvette.

When the man asked him to leave, Rugg allegedly jumped out of the vehicle and attacked him.

The victim told police that Rugg allegedly bit off a large portion of his right ear, punched him several times, broke three or four of his teeth, attempted to bite off three of his fingers and bit him on his left forearm, the affidavit states.

The victim was taken by ambulance to UPMC Somerset for treatment.

Police said they are currently assessing the extent of the damage to the Corvette.

Rugg was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his hand and head.

Rugg was arraigned before District Judge William Seger of Windber and remanded to the Somerset County Jail after failing to post $75,000 bail.
