Shooting in Railgarten was caused by dispute over parking space

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A newly obtained police report offers new insight into Friday night's shooting outside a popular Midtown hangout.

According to preliminary information from Memphis Police, gunfire occurred outside Railgarten, after which a man was taken to the hospital in non-life-threatening condition.

New details show that the gunman's weapon was a shotgun. We now know that two bystanders were also injured in the explosion.

The victim told police that he and his girlfriend were driving into the parking lot of the Bar & Grill at 2166 Central Avenue on Friday night when a heated argument broke out with two strangers over the parking space.

As the argument between the three men escalated, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim twice, “with what appeared to be birdshot,” hitting the victim's entire midsection and front body.

The suspects then drove away in their gray two-door Lexus. According to MPD, the car had Arkansas license plate EX58207.

The first passerby told police he was waiting to cross into Railgarten when he heard the gunshots. He was shot in the upper left shoulder before running for cover.

The victim told police that he neither witnessed the fight nor saw who was responsible for the shooting.

The third victim told MPD he saw the argument and was trying to get his friends to a safer location when the gunshots rang out and he was hit in the back of the head.

Paramedics treated the injuries of the two bystanders on site.

Two nearby cars were also hit by the shotgun pellets.

At last check, it was determined that no arrests had been made.
