Teenager arrested on suspicion of criminal threat at Moreno Valley middle school – Press Enterprise

A 13-year-old boy was arrested over the weekend after allegedly making criminal threats on social media against Mountain View Middle School in Moreno Valley.

On Sunday, Aug. 18, several parents and students expressed concern about a social media post threatening violence at the middle school. The post included a photo of several weapons that was later determined to be an image obtained from the internet, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

The account holder was linked to a 13-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of criminal threatening and menacing school employees and booked into Riverside Juvenile Detention Center, authorities said.

It was unclear whether the boy had any connection to the school.

“There were no other threats against the school and we believe the juvenile acted alone,” the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Additional officers were on campus Monday to provide additional security, the sheriff's department said.
