Man arrested and charged with robbery at 7-Eleven parking lot in Pāhoa

(BIVN) – A Puna man was arrested and charged in connection with a reported robbery that occurred in Pāhoa last week.

According to prosecutors, 38-year-old Benjamin Aldosa Jr. of Puna struck another man multiple times in the 7-Eleven parking lot on Pāhoa Village Road on August 16.

Aldosa then allegedly took the man's laundry bag and left the area on foot.

From the office of Hawaii County Attorney Kelden Waltjen:

Aldosa made his first appearance in Hilo District Court on Monday afternoon. Despite objections from the prosecution, the District Court Judge released Aldosa, who was previously held on $50,000.00 bail, under supervision and ordered him to appear for a preliminary hearing on September 4, 2024.

As the complaint alleges, Aldosa is charged with second-degree robbery, a Class B felony punishable by ten years in prison or four years' probation and up to eighteen months in prison.

The charges are merely allegations. The defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.

The case was handled by Officer Taylor Cruz, Puna Patrol, Hawaii Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Andrew Son.
