DEC investigates gas leak in Clifton Springs – Finger Lakes Daily News

The Department of Environmental Conservation is investigating a gas accident or leak in Clifton Springs.

The location in question is Crosby's Store and the Mobil gas station at 1 Kendall Street.

According to the DEC, oil pollution control experts were on the scene last Thursday after receiving reports of gasoline smelling at a nearby business and smells were also detected “in the sewer system.” The DEC's initial investigation found that an “unknown amount of fuel” had leaked into the sewer system, storm sewer system and nearby Sulphur Creek.

The DEC is working with the Clifton Springs Township Sewer and Fire Departments and will continue to monitor the investigation and cleanup efforts.
