What does 'very low key' mean? Everything you need to know about the viral TikTok trend

Over the past few weeks, TikTok's For You pages around the world have been flooded with a new viral trend revolving around the phrase “very low key, very mindful.”

If you've been scrolling through the popular social media app but haven't noticed the trend until late, you may be wondering what it means and where it came from.

Here's everything you need to know about the “very low key, very mindful” trend on TikTok.

Where does the “very low-key” TikTok trend come from?

Although thousands of people have joined in on the TikTok trend, it was originally started by an influencer named Jools Lebron, who describes himself as “plus size trans.”

In the video, in which she portrays the character Joolieannie, she explains how to dress and behave appropriately in the workplace.

She said, “See how I do my makeup for work? Very subtle. Very attentive.

“I don't come to work with a green-cut crease. I don't look like a clown when I go to work. I don't do too much. I'm very mindful while I'm working.”

She added: “The way I went to the interview is the way I went to the job. A lot of you girls go to the interview and look like Marge Simpson and go to the job and look like Patty and Selma. Not demure. I'm very modest. I'm very thoughtful.”
