Bayern Munich's Josip Stanisic will be out for “several weeks” due to a knee ligament injury

Bayern Munich defender Josip Stansic will be out for “several weeks” due to a collateral ligament injury in his right knee.

The 24-year-old sustained the injury during a training session on Monday. An examination by the club's medical department confirmed the diagnosis.

Stanisic played throughout FC Bayern’s 4-0 win over German second division side Ulm last Friday.

The Croatian international spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, where he helped the club win the Bundesliga and DFB Pokal.

He also played in two of Croatia's three group matches at the European Championships in Germany earlier this summer.

On Sunday, FC Bayern starts the Bundesliga season against Wolfsburg.
