Shooting in Rosa Burney Park: Police release photos of suspected shooters during violence at Mechanicsville class reunion

Atlanta police are hoping for the public's help in identifying several people suspected of being connected to a shooting following a community meeting in Mechanicsville in early August.

According to police, the shooting occurred after a large gathering at Rosa Burney Park, where attendees had gathered to socialize with friends and celebrate community.

What was supposed to be a joyful reunion turned into a terrifying situation when, according to witnesses, someone from across the street began shooting into the crowd of thousands.

Five people were shot. Among the victims are a 17-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy and a 33-year-old woman. The most seriously injured was a 29-year-old woman who has been in critical condition since last week. Authorities have not provided any update on her condition.

After the shooting, a witness told FOX 5 that some people in the crowd heard there were threats before the meeting.

“There was going to be a shooting. We heard that before, it was mentioned that there was going to be a shooting,” said witness Durell Jackson. “So they told a lot of people, 'Don't come.' This is the last of all the meetings, so one of the biggest in Atlanta, Georgia. We have it every year.”
