Woman charged with aiding convicted murderer's escape could face more than three years in prison

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (WRAL) — The Burlington woman accused of helping a convicted murderer escape in Orange County appeared in court Monday.

Jacobia Crisp, 32, is charged with aiding and abetting escape and harboring an escapee.

If convicted of aiding and abetting, Crisp could face three years and three months in prison.

If convicted of harboring, Crisp could face two years in prison.

It is unclear whether these charges would be filed simultaneously or separately if Crisp were convicted on both counts.

Crisp is accused of helping convicted murderer Ramone Alston escape in Orange County on Aug. 13. He was caught and she was arrested Friday. Authorities have not said how the two were connected, only that they developed a relationship while Alston was serving a life sentence for murder.
