Armed, barricaded man not found after SWAT operation in Homewood – WPXI

PITTSBURGH – SWAT units were on the scene of a domestic incident in Homewood early Tuesday morning.

Pittsburgh police said the SWAT team was in the 7000 block of Idlewild Street around 4:30 a.m. to find an armed man barricaded in a home.

Officers on the scene told Channel 11 that the suspect took the gun from a woman. She fled the house and was examined by paramedics for minor injuries.

According to police, SWAT units made contact with the suspect via cell phone. He said he was not at the house and provided a second location where he wanted to meet and speak with them. The information turned out to be false and SWAT continued operations at the original location in Idlewild.

Officials said shortly after 6 a.m. that officers entered the building but did not find the suspect.

This is a developing story. Check back later for updates as more information becomes available.
