South Carolina Attorney General co-authors brief supporting North Carolina laws restricting abortion drugs

COLUMBIA, SC (FOX Carolina) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson co-authored a brief Monday in support of North Carolina laws regulating the prescribing and dispensing of abortion-inducing drugs.

Wilson said a coalition of 18 states filed the complaint in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit as part of a lawsuit brought by a doctor against the state of North Carolina and its laws.

“I have always been proud to be pro-life,” said Attorney General Wilson. “But this case is also about upholding the law and states' sovereignty. The U.S. Supreme Court recognized that states have the authority to regulate abortion when it overturned Roe v. Wade two years ago, and the abortion regulations North Carolina has adopted are common sense.”

The states are asking the appeals court to lift the district court's injunction blocking enforcement of North Carolina's laws.
